Health and Safety Representative (HSR) Refresher Training – 1 Day, WorkSafe ACT approved

Health and Safety Representatives are entitled to complete the 1-day refresher training each year for the duration of their tenure provided they completed the initial 5 Day HSR course

This refresher training will update you on your knowledge and skills of workplace health and safety.  The role of a HSR is to represent the workers of their work group on safety matters.

This includes liaising with staff and communicating all identified safety concerns to management. The HSR refresher course is conducted by experts who have many years real life experience in safety.

Your role as a health and safety representative contributes to a reduction of incidents and disruptions in your workplace.  HSRs make a positive impact on the well-being of all workers and contribute to the overall success of the business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HSR Refresher Training Compulsory?

No.  Health and Safety Representative Refresher training is not a requirement to conduct the functions and powers of a HSR.  However it is highly recommended to complete a refresher course every 12 months. This ensures a HSR is kept up to date with WHS practices and requirements and further develop their capacity to function as a health and safety representative.

Is the HSR Refresher Training available online?

WorkSafe ACT has given approval to deliver the Health and Safety Representative Refresher course online via Teams. We have public courses online over Microsoft Teams through our RTO Coastal OHS Services.

Can an elected HSR be refused refresher training?

No.  If an elected HSR requests HSR Training, their PCBU must comply. As long as the elected HSR has previously completed Initial HSR training, with an approved WorkSafe ACT provider, they may complete the HSR Refresher training.
