Why Is Self Paced Online H&S Due Diligence Training Important?

Self paced online training for health and safety is important as it allows you to do the training when you need it.  “Self paced” means that you can stop start and complete the course when it suits your time schedule.

Staff with significant decision-making authority, such as CEO’s, directors and other executive managers, are likely considered to be “officers” of their organisation under the HSW Act.  Officers have substantial duties and obligations under the HSW Act.  For them it is crucial to understand these duties and to be pro active in safety management to ensure the organization meets its duties under the legislation.  Without a clear and informed understanding of the H&S legislation, officers and their organisation may be exposed to prosecution, fines and jail sentences for failing to meet their duties.

 

Why Is the Health and Safety at Work Act Important?

The Health and Safety at Work (HSW) Act imposes duties and obligations to ensure the health and safety of all workers and others who may be affected by its operations.  All workers have duties under this legislation and failure to meet these duties can lead to personal fines and jail sentences.  The object of the HSW Act is underpinned by the principle that all workers and others are given the highest level of protection against harm to their health, safety and welfare so far as is reasonably practicable.

The HSW Act imposes special duties on Officers.  This duty is called “Due Diligence”.

 

How Is the Online Course Assessed?

The assessment for the online H&S due diligence course is informal.  The quizzes after each segment include “mix and match” and multiple choice questions.  The course provides all the required information to successfully complete each quiz.  This online H&S  course provides officers of an organisation with tools and a solid understanding of the H&S legislation to make an immediate positive change to workplace safety, and at the same time, achieving a higher level of H&S compliance.

 

How Long is the Health and Safety Due Diligence Training?

This online due diligence course can be completed in under 2 hours. However, it is self paced so you can stop start complete when it suits your schedule.  There is a 6 month time limit to complete the course.

 

Is Online H&S Due Diligence Training Mandatory?

Online Health and Safety due diligence training is not mandatory. However, we highly recommend undertaking this training for officers and senior managers of an organisation, that is, those with with significant decision making authority. Officers have specific duties and obligations under the HSW Act.  In order to be able to comply with these, you first need to know what H&S due diligence means and what your duties and obligations are and then what to do about these.  Ignorance will never be a defence.  Fines and penalties for non compliance are significant.
